Cast Info for Nov. 9 Rehearsal
November 8, 2009
IMPORTANT TIME CHANGE ! The rehearsal time has changed for tomorrow’s rehearsal. It will run from 4:30 to 7:30 this week. Eastern Health is using the Civic Centre for its immunization program and people will be using the theatre as a giant waiting room. They are supposed to be finished by 4:30 so we will start then and run the extra time to 7:30.
We will be running through the play twice, once with scripts and once without. We are just a few weeks away from the performance and we need to work hard. Be sure that you know all your lyrics, especially the soloists. You should be practicing out loud each day and listening to your expression and your articulation. We will be working on projecting our voices to the middle of the theatre. There will be prizes.
If anyone can find pictures of early 20th century clothing and items, please bring them to the rehearsal. We will be having a production meeting during our supper break.
GALLERY PHOTOS I will taking head shots of everyone for the lobby gallery so wish your hair, brush your teeth and bring a hairbrush.
It is vital that everyone be at this rehearsal. Hopefully nobody is ill and we can really work to our most energetic capacity. See you tomorrow.
Remember, next week’s rehearsal is at Marcia’s house at 72 Water St.
PARENTS Tickets for The Christmas Sneeze are now available at the box office.
Cast Info for Nov. 2 Rehearsal
November 1, 2009
We had a great rehearsal last week! Everyone is working hard at their lines and by the time we had run through the show twice much of the confusion about where to stand was relieved. At this rehearsal we will run through the play two times again. We will also do some work on the songs and the dances.
Most of you know all your lines. Be sure you know your cues (when to speak your line) The best way to practice is by saying your part out loud. Just reading it doesn’t help with your expression or articulation. EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW THE LYRICS FOR ALL THE SONGS (except Pat-a-pan) especially SOLOISTS.
The focus in tomorrow’s rehearsal will be strong vocal work (that is LOUD and CLEAR) To do that you have to know what it is you’re saying.
We’re halfway to the performance dates. Bring all of your energy.

Cast Info for Oct. 26 Rehearsal
October 25, 2009
Notices went to schools this past week about The Christmas Sneeze performances. We’re well on our way to another great show! It is very important that ALL cast members attend ALL rehearsals. Here’s why: 1)We have new experience and information at every rehearsal and if you miss, then you don’t know what is going on. That affects the quality of the show.
2)We need as much practice as we can get in order to give the best performance. Professionals know this and never miss a rehearsal.
3)We have limited rehearsal time and if you miss a rehearsal it takes time out of the next rehearsal to show you what is going on.
Please organize your time so that homework and other appointments are not from 4 – 7 on Mondays. If you are ill, please try to come and watch so that you know what is going on.
The success of the Symphonic Storytellers lies in the quality of the show. The quality of the show depends on the work that you do as part of the team. We are gaining a reputation for great shows. Let’s build this reputation to national levels.
SCRIPT I have emailed the script with the blocking revisions. Please check your email and compare your script with the new one. You may write in the changes or just print the new one off. I will bring the 3-hole punch to the rehearsal.
We are going to run through the show twice tomorrow; the first time with scripts and the second time without scripts so be ready. Remember that for the most effective practice you need to be saying your part outloud so that you can hear it. It is not enough to just read; you need to know how it sounds. See you tomorrow.

We are delighted to welcome Paul Wilson to the Symphonic Storytellers. His acting and teaching skills will be a tremendous addition to our next production, A Gommil from BumbleBee Bight.
After moving to Canada from Australia, where he was trained at the well respected Victorian College of the Arts in Melbourne, Paul’s first Canadian work was in Norm Foster’s Outlaw for Theatre in Port in St. Catharines, Ontario, directed by Chris McHarge; with whom he has since collaborated on the musical tribute show 1967 Memories of the Summer of Love. Paul has worked extensively in Ontario for the acclaimed theatre for young audiences company, Carousel Players, appearing in their productions of Night Light, Wimp!,House at Pooh Corner and The Big League. He has conducted several drama workshops, classes and camps for the company. In addition, Paul has worked as an artist/educator with the Learning Through the Arts program. Paul is very happy to have relocated with his family to Harbour Grace and is looking forward to starting work here on ‘The Rock’ with The Symphonic Storytellers.
Symphonic Storytellers now Children’s Theatre in Residence at Princess Sheila Nageira Theatre

Symphonic Storytellers has taken a giant leap forward to become the Symphonic Storytellers Children’s Theatre Co. The winter session rehearsals for Sneetches and Rats began on Jan. 10 and will run every Saturday for ten weeks. There are 21 cast members between 6 and 14 years of age and two apprentices. Performances for the public and school audiences are scheduled for Mar. 18 and 19 with four shows in total. Tickets are available through the Sheila NaGeira Theatre box office.
Spring and fall sessions are accepting registrations on line at www.symphonicstorytellers.com. There will also be four camps, each a week long during July and August. Camp is held in the spacious gardens of O’Neill in Carbonear. Registration for camp is also available on line.
